The 3 Hour Diet – Low Fat Diets

Don’t get to excited The 3 Hour Diet is not what it sounds like. Its a diet book written by Jorge Cruise published in 2005. Cruise has been featured on Oprah, The Today show and is well recognized as a nutritional expert. The diet is based on the theory that you should eat smaller but more frequent meals. According to the book when meals are spaced more than 3 hours apart the body triggers itself into starvation mode. In this mode metabolism is changed and muscle mass is lost.

By eating smaller and more frequent meals he concludes that insulin levels are lowered and blood sugar is more stable. By keeping the metabolism going your body will burn fat not muscle. The book recommends healthy balanced low calorie meals in small portions. Eating this way Cruise believes increases energy well at the same time decreases appetite. The average day roughly 1400 calories should be eaten. Healthy vegetable and fruits are emphasized with limited carbs and lean cuts of meat for protein. Using a 9 inch plate roughly half the plate should consist of fruits and vegetables. The book includes sections on how to eat healthy even when dining out or when you have to eat fast, frozen food. However the book has very limited information on exercise as Cruise believes his diet will work with or without it.

Every Other Day Diet

The 3 hour diet is not that restrictive in terms of food choices, he believe there are no bad foods only bad portions. The 3 Hour Diet is good for those who crave or have a little taste for something sweet now and than but keep in mind the keyword is little. If your the type of eater that just can not stop once you get started, than this diet may not be your best choice.
