In the summertime, I like to use my crock pot (slow cooker) several times a week. One benefit to using your crock pot in the summertime is to save money on air conditioning costs.
Another great benefit is time. As a busy mother and wife, I don’t have hours to spend in my kitchen every day making meals for my family. (more…)

Did you know that you can bake delicious desserts using your crock pot? These days, you can cook or bake, just about anything in your slow cooker.
Here are a few tips to get you started.

According to the most recent statistics, men over the age of 50 have an 80% chance of developing a benign prostatic hyperplasia (hypertrophy) disorder.
Additional statistics indicate, that prostatitis, which is the inflammation of the prostate gland, in men, is the diagnosis at 8% of all urologist and 1% of all primary care physician visits in the United States. (more…)

I was walking through the aisles of the grocery store a couple of days ago, and I noticed the increase in prepackaged slow cooker meals. I already know the rewards of using a slow cooker because I’ve been using mine for years, so it came as no surprise to me when others started talking about the advantages of cooking with a crock pot but why did it take the rest of the country so long to find out? But even with this increase in popularity, I’ve recently been asked by a few “newbies” “Is slow cooking really that great?”
That question would be easy to answer even if all you’ve ever done is make chicken stew with your slow cooker. It’s just too easy and the food tastes exceptional when cooked slowly and evenly in a crock pot. (more…)

You can cook the main part of your meal without turning on the stove or oven. The Spareribs, Cabbage ‘N’ Kraut is a tasty meal that has a German flavor. The Chunky, Creamy Chicken Soup is easy and should please everyone. It is also an excellent recipe for diabetics.
SPARERIBS, CABBAGE ‘N KRAUT
3 to 4 lb lean pork spareribs, cut into serving size pieces
salt to taste
pepper to taste
1 small can sauerkraut
1/2 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 apple, quartered, cored, and sliced
1 tsp caraway seeds or dill weed
1 cup water

Fast foods could have been the meal of choice for many busy families through the last couple of decades. But now the slow cooked, home-prepared meals are gaining in popularity! Crock pots, with their wafting aromas and ‘ready to eat’ meals, entice health-aware, busy folks.
And it doesn’t take super human talent, ability, or effort to make a delicious meal in a crockpot – in truth there are quite a few Slow cooker Recipies that need 5 or less ingredients! And crockpot cooking can be so simple as tossing a few ingredients into the pot before everybody leaves for the day. Many call it BBQ shredded Crock pot pulled pork because it looks like shredded pork, but technically it is BBQ pulled pork. But, if you’d like call it shredded pork, no-one will care. Once it’s cooked, the way it became its name is from using your hands, or a fork, to literally twist and pull the pork beef away from the fat, and to separate it from the bone.
The cut of meat excellent for pulled pork comes from the higher part of the shoulder from the front leg of a hog. It is named the Boston Butt, or pork shoulder. At your favourite butcher shop, asked them for a bone-in, pork shoulder. (more…)

Okay, so these two recipes are from my favorite site and yes, they are my favorites to make. I can make the Vegetarian Minestrone early in the morning, let it cook, let it smell my house up with goodness. Then after it’s done I can make the Baked Apples and let that cook, and let that fill my home up with even more goodness. Mmmm, I’m getting hungry just typing this right now.
Okay, without further adue…
Vegetarian Minestrone
1 medium onion, chopped
2 medium carrots, thinly sliced
2 stalks celery, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 red bell pepper, seeded, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 medium zucchini, scrubbed, sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 14 1/2 oz. can vegetable broth
1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
2 15 1/2 oz. cans kidney beans, drained
2 tsp. dried marjoram
1/4 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
